The Mourela Plateau, at an altitude of over 1,000 meters, is one of the most privileged places in the Peneda-Gerês National Park for observing wild birds. Tufas, scattered forests and agricultural fields create a mosaic of habitats where rare species can be admired in flight or perched above the silence of the mountains.
In this high-altitude refuge, at sunrise and sunset, the colors of the sky paint the shadows of the birds – snipe, eagles, lapwings, catsharks and so many other winged inhabitants who find food and protection here.
This program is more than an exercise in observation – it’s an invitation to contemplation. Guided by experts, you will explore the natural beauty of Gerês and understand how each species reveals a little more about the balance of this unique ecosystem.
